Talent search - Do you ask for a "Personal and authorized" reference?  Do you call them your self?

Values - does your group know your values?  Are they written?  Think Job Description, a living breathing document.

Discipline - Do you have managers that report to you?  Did you train them?  Do you sit in on their discipline meetings?

Praise and incentives - Do  you plan your peoples compensation up to 5 years in advance?
